Harlow Chorus was founded in 1975 by Michael Kibblewhite who directed it for the first 20 years. Sarah Tenant-Flowers took over as Musical Director from 1996 - 2007 when Daniel Hyde was appointed. However, the choir said goodbye to him at the end of last season as he moved to Oxford to take up the prestigious post of Director of Music at Magdalen College, a rare career opportunity. During his short tenure, Dan continued the excellent work of his predecessors and enhanced the choir's reputation as one of the foremost choirs in the eastern region.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alexander Chaplin as Musical Director from September 2009 and look forward to working with him, continuing to create wonderful music for the enjoyment of singers and audiences alike. Alex is currently also Musical Director of East London Chorus and Wokingham Choral Society and is in much demand as a pianist and organist both at home and abroad.

Susan Graham Smith is a full-time professional musician whose skills as an accompanist and deputy rehearsal conductor contribute to the overall performance of the choir. Please click on her name for a full biography.
